If you do this, you are a puppy mill supporter. PETA will get you and kill you.

Every puppy that is sold in a pet store, no matter how good the store may look means another litter will be born in filth and suqalor to further supply that demand. The mother of the puppy will have to undergo being bred yet again at her very next heat.
ETA: Grow up and stop being ridiculous Anna-Bell
EXTRA - I do not care whatever the Pet store tells you, because no caring, or reputable, ethical breeder is going to give one of their carefully bred, precious puppies to a dealer/pet sotre/thord party to sell for them ! I hope you can show my links to your brother. And where is the logic that someone who is health screening and genetic testing and spending donating huge amounts to breed health research each year are creating unhealthy dogs and are "overrated" - seriously? He is nuts. Bless the day you missed out on his twisted genes!
Just proves that even with "brothers" you can get different results, eh?

I'm not reading all of that
Regardless how nice the place looks....they are still puppy mill crap! If you pay for them...you're directly supporting the puppy mills. THey will keep pumping out more dogs...
A one year health guarantee doesnt mean jack or shit. Any genetic abnormalities/diseases usually DO NOT show themselves by the first year....so they can take that guarantee and shove it where the sun dont shine.....
From Bobbie L
17 year olds cannot purchase, or adopt dogs, you must be 18.
From cjrossi
they "cant go to a rescue shelter"?
why can't they? do you mean they "wont"?
bottom line is this:
Legit breeders do not sell their dogs in pet stores. Ever.
You're falling for their sales pitch a little bit.
And the fact that they are charging high prices and pushing financing - trying to sell dogs to people who can't afford to pay the purchase price to begin with - much less all the care they'll need? 0 and then milking them for additional finance charge revenue streams - is just all wrong.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DRESSED UP BYB SHOP
............
ADD: Jesus Christ if what you want is links to sites showing the benefits of neutering - JUST ASK FOR THAT instead of writing a novel. Don't berate us for trying to address what you appeared to be looking for in your long winded rambling essay.
Better yet - GOOGLE IT YOURSELF
From Clumsical of the !MC! Squad
no, they're just an upper grade puppy mill. No responsible breeder would EVER give their pups to a pet store. They are just waving the word "pedigree" in your face and expecting you to pay WAY too much for a dog. Any GOOD, heck any DECENT breeder would have a lifetime guarantee.
ADD: A female should not be bred more than once every two years. So once or twice a year is still quite awful.
And if your brother has a "breeder dog" the last thing he needs is another dog.
From Dd (got her first job!)
That pet store is better than most, but that doesn't mean they are producing good quality dogs.
From DEBunker
"Potential"?????
Sure...for SUCKERS to hemorrhage their wallets dry *&* help the mills produce yet MORE junk!
YES...worst possible choice.
But you can't get through to morons w/FACTS,can you?
*&*...the salesperson is a LIAR!! 100% guaranteed. They buy from BROKERS & couldn't possibly care less for anything other than CHEAP CRAP.
From Margaret Macdonald
my dad refuses to get a dog from a petstore. Do NOT get a dog from a pet store get one from a breeder. Go online and look up breeders in ur area! And give them a call.....oh and by the way they'll be like half the price...for a better dog....google breeders! To find the perefect pu and I'm telling ya don't buy one from the pet store and learn the hard way. Good luck....oh and if you get one get an 8 week old for the younhest anf for the oldest get a 3 month old or else it's 10 yimes harder to train :D
From ∞Jen∞
What is the name of that petstore? I want to see if they have a website that says the same. If they are really that great it would be strange if they didn't have a site.
I also have a hard time believing that a petstore would offer all of that, i would have to see proof before believing it.
From Alesi's Chis Go Jude!
EVERY dog has a pedigree, be they mutt or purebred, or whether they come from puppy mills, BYBs or good breeders. Their one year guarantee is worthless since you seem to know that most issues won't crop up until after that point, but most pet store guarantees are automatically voided if you do anything they prohibit, like give the dog water. Background check? References? Even if they do make the calls, I can guarantee that NO ONE is getting turned down, even if they have a criminal record of animal abuse. Instead of trying to prevent your brother from buying from this pet store if he's as stubborn as you say, your time may be better spent in providing him with acceptable options, like good breeders in his area with puppies available
Wow. That is one pack of poorly bred puppies. I didn't even see a bassett in there, but since most are hardly recognizable as their intended breeds, I'm not surprised. That's what your brother considers quality breeding? I guess you were fortunate in not inheriting the 'dumb as a stump' gene
From Nikko,Loves GSD,Pekes
Just click on my Avatar (GSD pic there) and go to my profile and then have him watch the 2 video's I have posted there to see if he thinks twice about getting another dog from a pet store...Education,visual education and maybe than all these pet stores can be shut down for good..
From Chrissy Gordon
Talk to your brother and do not buy from a pet store even if you have all the info you need. Without knowing all the back round of the puppies, there is still no guarantee he will be getting a good dog.
Have your brother check other breeders in his area and ask questions. A breeder will have the back round of the puppy, such as the parents and their parents, awards if the dog was a champion. and yes your right, the health guarantee should be 2 years.
And yes some breeders will ask you to alter the dog, but not all of them.
Even if the store asks all kinds of things like credit, so they get their money, a criminal check, for safety so they do not sell to a drug dealer or such, possibly a reference, and a job reference and such.
This still does not show a good breeder and even if you were in another state, there are puppies mills that will do different things like make it look as though they are high quality dogs, but these people breed constantly and never stop
So get your brother to look else where and be patient and if he does, he will find what he wants and be satisfied with the dog and the price will suit him better than a store.
Good luck.
From Designer Dogs are fancy mutts
Even PetLand tells people that they only buy from reputable breeders that their dogs come from a mom and pop breeder that only has two breeding dogs and that the pups are raised lovingly in their home and they only have one litter a year, when it's been proven that they buy from puppy mills all over Missouri. It's what they are told by corporate and it's what they are trained to tell consumers when they ask. If you take them up on their offer to see the breeding facility I bet you'd get the run around.
This is a puppy mill supporter fancied up to throw people off. No reputable breeder would supply a petstore with puppies. They are wolves in sheeps clothing.
From Autumn
You have done your best to educate your brother but he is evidently one of those closed minded people who know better than everyone else.
Unfortunately these are the type of people who choose to live in everlasting ignorance. They're too arrogant to be educated.
He's actually worse than most who buy pups from pet stores because you've already informed him of the facts. Most people don't know the facts about pet stores and their close relationship with puppy mills.
There is no more you can do but kudos to you for trying.
From Rotten Rotts Common sense is a good thing. Try it
My issue is anyone can spin a bunch of crap.I have never seen a pet store that did not say that they do not buy from puppy mills. The regulations are a bunch of crap if you figure the that the Agriculture departments that are suppose to inspect rarely do inspect.
Are they showing the dogs, do you get the health test in writing, can you visit the breeder.
I don't mean to be rude but your brother is a BYB and I doubt anything you say will sway his intentions. Which is sad because he is producing the average or below average bred dog that he will be making money on. Unless you can slap some sense in him and wake him up to the real world, then just walk away.
Basically what he is doing to his dog I would consider neglect.
From Rain
In my opinion, your brother needs more information on breeding. And in my opinion, he should not be breeding.
Honestly, if this was my brother, I would do everything in my power to get him to realize that something isn't right with the situation. I also would not assist him in anyway.
In regards to the pet shop. Supporting any pet shop is something I won't do. If one works out (even if it's a good one) then the bad ones will think they can survive, state the same things, and try to come back. I believe in finding your own dog through searching rescues (not all spay and nuture btw) and searching for breeders.
Sorry this isn't much to help you - but I really do think you are going about this the wrong way.

You cant fix stupid (or callous, for that matter).
If your brother already has his mind fixed, and isnt interested in educating himself, there isnt a lot you can do about it. He obviously doesnt have higher standards than the lowest BYB.
Some people have to learn everything the hard way....too bad the dogs pay the price.
