Ear Mites

Ack! Kitty Parasites.?

Recently we took in a stray kitty, who happened to be pregnant. At first I thought she had ear-mites, which I took care of with mineral oil. Recently though they have come back, and happened to also infest the kittens. But I do not think they are ear mites. They look like fleas, and act lie ticks, and seem not to be interested in the cat's ears at all, but are taking root around the kitty's eyes, and nose. They are really small, but when I took care of them organically on the mother, they were much bigger; mostly centered around her eyes, and little in her ear folds and some around her nose and in the thinner hair on her head. Here are some pictures: http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s102/kleotide/P8290010.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s102/kleotide/P8290017.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s102/kleotide/P8290022.jpg I plan on taking them to the vet (for their first shots) in a few weeks, for their shots etc. So we will know for sure what they are then, however if anyone recognizes them, I'd love to know what they are. Being able to get rid of them with Frontline (or something similar) sooner than later would be great, as these little buggers make their eyes watery.

My 5 week old kitten is suddenly limping... does this require immediate attention?

My husband brought me home two kittens 5 days ago, approx 5 weeks old, one male one female. 4 days ago we took them to the vet and found they had an upper respiratory infection, infected eyes and ear mites. They were neg for FIV and leukemia, and were dewormed but the fecal later came back neg as well. They`re on Clavamox for the infection, drops for the ear mites, and a salve for the eye infections. In the last 4 days they`ve gotten WAY better, and are now extremely active. This evening when I went into their room to give them dinner (we have them quarantined from our other cat while they heal up) the sister of the two was limping. She`s walking on 3 paws and trying not to use the 4th. I checked the paw and leg. She has full mobility and I can manipulate it without her complaining. She CAN use it, and will to bat at a toy or something, but she`s avidly NOT walking on it, and is trying not to use it at all. Because she`s holding it up all the time, she keeps stumbling and falling over. My vet is closed until morning, and after Monday`s bill ran us for over $500, and they go back next Thursday for their vaccinations I hate to rush them in again. I just want to know if this is something I should just observe for a few days or if I should take her in first thing tomorrow? Or should I just call my vet and check with her tomorrow? Additional details: Yes, I can manipulate the limb from the claw all the way to the shoulder with no complaint from her. In fact, she purrs the whole time. I checked for anything caught in the claws (litter, string, etc.) and also for cuts or lacerations. Nothing. She's holding the paw high off the ground, the way a human would keep their arm in a sling. It's not just a limp, but a severe aversion to pressure. I doubt very much that this is a virus, and I would assume minor injury, sprain, an overextension, or maybe she caught a claw on something and injured it. As for the vaccinations, they're on 7 days of ear drops and 10 days of antibiotics/eye salve. They're being vaccinated per my vet's suggestion AFTER they complete their antibiotics. This particular vet also treats my other cat and my two dogs, and my sister (who is a vet tech) confirmed her diagnosis and treatment for me. I trust her assessment, and the current vaccination schedule.

My cat has problems with his ears?

He always has problems typically about once a month with his ears. He hurts if you scratch them, like he flips out, then shakes his head and screams while doing it. We thought he had ear mites, but when we gave him the medicine (it was the paste kind that they eat) he wasn't on it long enough to find out, because his brother started hissing at him everytime he walked by. (I assume it was from the smell of the medicine.) I know you'll suggest taking him to the vet, but my mom says we don't have the money right now, so I was hoping I could have an idea of what's wrong before we can take him. It's been like this since we moved here (Wyoming.) I'm thinking it could be the high altitude, but I'm not sure. We've been here for three years, and he's been like this for about that long. We were in Sacramento before (big difference) so it could be that. Oh, and now he has allergies, but probably because its summer. Now, since this is getting so long, I'm done. Thanks in advance!
